PATISSERIE VALERIE SAYS BONJOUR TO WESTMINSTER

Councillor Sheila D'Souza and Patisserie Valerie Employee Istvan RapiPrestige chain Patisserie Valerie, has opened its latest café in Westminster, creating over 25 new jobs.

The official opening took place on Saturday 29th October at the Edgware Road site and was officiated by Councillor Sheila D’Souza.

This latest opening in Westminster comes after a year in which the company has continued to expand beyond its London base, with over a 50% increase in the number of outlets across the country.

“Patisserie Valerie is a welcome addition to this vibrant neighbourhood and I was thrilled to be invited to attend the official opening,” Councillor D’Souza said. “The cakes on display looked absolutely incredible, and it was good to see some low calorie/low fat alternatives on the menu. I wish the new venue the best of success for the future.”

The trendy high street patisseries offer everything from an early morning breakfast to a sumptuous high tea as well as a bespoke catering service and exclusive collection of wedding cakes. This unique blend has seen the chain carving out a high street niche not met by traditional coffee house chains or cake shops, with plans to continue this expansion into 2012.

Patisserie Valerie’s Chief Executive Officer Paul May is delighted to be opening in Westminster and is keen to extend a warm welcome to local residents and visitors. “Despite the current climate of doom and gloom, we have been able to bring investment and new jobs to the UK’s high streets,” Paul said.

“If anything, the enthusiasm of the public has taken us by surprise so we have continued to look for high quality shopping venues in which to open.

“Everybody likes to indulge in a treat, which is essentially what Patisserie Valerie is all about- the excellent service we offer with all of the products we provide.  All of this puts us in a different market place from any other chain and this is why we have been able to gain so many new customers in the last year and provide much needed jobs.”

Founded in 1926 by Belgian Madame Valerie, the Patisserie Valerie chain will continue to grow over the next year with new cafés opening in Henley-on-Thames, Sheffield and Birmingham.
