Assistant Quality & Production Manager

Job Title: Assistant Quality and Production Manager

Location: Leith, Edinburgh

Reports to: Production / Technical Manager

Scope of Role:

To drive product quality, consistency and document accuracy. Providing day to day technical and production support ensuring standards of quality and compliance to legality of food safety are achieved and improved upon.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Completion of GMP & Integrity audits, glass audits, ccp audits, traceability audits and all other daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly tasks as per the schedule
  • Manage external audits with preparation, follow up and actions
  • Investigate customer complaints and drive improvements
  • Ensure despatched finished products meet criteria of quality and safety standards
  • Carry out micro testing as per schedule and monitor results
  • Coordinating daily quality & taste panels
  • Report KPI’s weekly for technical and production
  • Ensuring all raw materials conform to agreed specifications and raise supplier non conformances
  • Record site waste and drive improvements
  • Conduct store audits to monitor product quality and shelf life
  • Support and manage the production operatives on a day to day basis with all challenges
  • Assist with new starters induction training
  • Supervise production when cover is needed
  • Ensure planned production schedules are achieved
  • Cover various roles of production manager as and when required (stock counts, ordering, Health and Safety)
  • Offer full support to assist with the management of the hygiene team on a day to day basis

Key Skills, Competencies and Experience Required

  • Have a Food Science or related qualification
  • Experience in a technical / quality assurance role in a food manufacturing environment
  • High ability to concentrate on tasks and notice inaccuracies or unlikely anomalies
  • Excellent attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work quickly and methodically
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Experience of Microsoft packages
  • Committed, disciplined, flexible and well organised
  • Reliable and professional with a passion for food
  • Ability to multi task and to work under pressure, in a fast-paced environment
