Health, Safety and Environment Officer

Patisserie Valerie Production Ltd based in Hall Green, Birmingham, is recruiting for a Health, Safety and Environment Officer.

The successful candidate will report to the Group Health, Safety and Environment Manager and you will have the responsibility for ensuring that all aspects of the operation are being carried out according to the company policies and within the legal guidelines. The role encompasses the duty of care to all employees first, and the responsibility to ensure that any items or concerns identified through the completion of their duties are brought to the attention of the senior management.

The main responsibilities for the role are:

·The correct and timely completion of risk assessments
·Employee risk assessments where necessary (Health/Risk)
·Documentation on all Health and Safety training carried out
·Accurate record keeping
·Research, implementation and / or support delivering relevant policies
·Owner of review process when incidents occur
·COSHH management
·Contractor control
·Fire drills and reporting
·Emergency equipment test and service arrangements
·Managing First Aid and related activities
·Managing fire exit logs and action plan
·Regular updates for management to enable action when required
·Periodic review of provisions for H&S
·New project assessment and input
·New colleague inductions
·Working closely with the Management team for the purpose of compliance

The above list is not exhaustive and the H&S officer should ensure that consideration is given to all areas of the business that may represent a risk. The role requires a self-driven and confident approach that delivers and /or exceeds the necessary level of change, implementation and monitoring as needed.

The role holder must be wiling to travel if necessary and must have at least IOSH at management level, preferably NEBOSH general certificate or be working towards completing the qualification.
