What is Lotus Biscoff?

In 1932, a Belgian baker named Jan Boone Sr., creates a caramelised biscuit with nothing but natural ingredients. He names it Lotus, after the flower that symbolises purity.

Biscoff has been around for a long time, but in recent years it’s undergone something of a revival, becoming an all round dessert ingredient, with the arrival of the Biscoff spread a real game changer.Lotus Biscoff’s UK Instagram page has a loyal 65k followers featuring recipes, tips and dessert inspiration that will leave you salivating

.

What can I do with it?

From enjoying with a coffee whilst sitting in the salon to creating show stopping cakes. This ingredient can be added to milkshakes, brownies and many many more. We can`t get enough!

Is it gluten free?

Those gloriously sweet and spicy Lotus Biscoff cookies are sadly not gluten free. But there is a  gluten free version of these biscuits (also known as Speculoos or Spekulatius biscuits) - which is pretty much the same thing!

What type of biscuit is Lotus?

The Biscoff cookies are like a crisp shortbread cookie that are perfect for dipping into tea or coffee. The cookies have a caramel and cinnamon flavour with notes of other spices like ginger, cloves and nutmeg.

Why is it so good?

They really are onto a good thing here, it has a perfect balance of sweetness and salt, and this, coupled with the spice and bitterness, is why Biscoff were on to a winner!
